Jordan Caron(38) Providence/Boston Bruins

If Marc Savard is out indefinitely after suffering another concussion, Boston Bruins management should call up rookie Jordan Caron(38) who has already played 20 games for the big club and notched 7 points.

This is a no brainer and I can’t be the only one who is thinking this. Unless there is some sort of salary cap issue with having him play too many NHL games for his entry level contract to kick in.

Matt Bartkowski(3) Providence/Boston Bruins

In his rookie season defenseman Matt Bartkowski(3) has seen action in the NHL with Boston on two seperate call-ups. His decent play could be one of the reasons the Bruins have cooled on the play of Mark Stuart and are looking at him as salary clearing trade bait.

Igor Gongalsky(22) Portland Pirates

ECHL staple, now seeing time in the AHL with Portland, Igor Gongalsky(22) got his first goal at the AAA level recently and has been steadily putting up points since. Still wouldn’t be surprised to see him released and finishing up the season with Greenville Road Warriors, who he has played only 7 games with in 2010/2011.

Jason Pitton(28) Bridgeport Sound Tigers

ECHL Stockton Thunder forward Jason Pitton(28) showed up in Worcester as a member of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He recently signed a pto with the team, making it his third call-up to the AHL this season. He played 9 games with the Sharks.

Micheal Haley(18) vs. Cam MacIntyre(41)

Things got tense between Cam MacIntyre(41) and Michel Haley(18) as the Sharks took a two-goal lead on the Sound Tigers in the 2nd period of IceCats’ night at the DCU. No matter though, as Bridgeport were spoilers scoring the next three for the 6-3 win.

Justin Braun(27) Worcester/San Jose Sharks

Sharks‘ 2011 AHL All-Star defenseman Justin Braun(27) gives me the thumbs up on the coolness of the IceCats‘ jerseys the team wore on 1/22.

He just cranked a 95.6 mph slapshot at the AHL Skills Competion in Hershey, which was good enough for 2nd but should have been first if the rules were followed.

Finz(06) & Scratch(1) Worcester Sharks/Ice Cats

As part of the 75th Anniversary of the AHL, on January 22, the Worcester Sharks hosted IceCats‘ night to pay tribute to the former team that played in the city from 1994-2005 before St. Louis Blues moved them to Peoria (Rivermen).

Both present and former team mascots took part in the special night.

Dylan Reese(2) Bridgeport Sound Tigers/NY Islanders

Islanders‘/Sound Tigers‘ defenseman Dylan Reese is used to the trips back and forth between Connecticut and Long Island. He’s been called-up 4 times for 19 games this season but has done less well than he did in 19 games in the NHL last season. Having recently been reassigned to the AHL, you have to wonder if he will get another shot with the big club.

Brandon Mashinter(53) Worcester/San Jose Sharks

Brandon Mashinter(53) is seeing his first playing time in the NHL with San Jose in his second season in the system. He’s played 10 games with the big team but has yet to register a point. Some might say that’s not exactly what he there for either.  I say to stick you need to contribute on the score sheet too.

James Marcou(19) Worcester Sharks

James Marcou(19) delivers the gloves of Cam MacIntyre(41) to the bench after his brawl that sent him to the dressing room early before the period ended.
